Motorhome Rental Bergamo ItalyMotorhome Rental Bergamo:  Bergamo in the Lombardia region of northern Italy, is a fascinating, historic city with two distinct centers.
The Città Alta (upper town) is a beautiful walled city with buildings that date back to medieval times. At the heart of the old town is the lovely Piazza Vecchia. A wide open space surrounded by a mixture of medieval and Renaissance architecture, the piazza fills up with students from the university, chatting and picnicking around the fountain. There are several bars with tables on the square for a spot of relaxation.
The most interesting of the palazzi facing onto Piazza Vecchia is the medieval Palazzo della Ragione. The portico dates back to the 12th century and connects Piazza Vecchia with the little Piazza del Duomo, home to an assortment of fine religious buildings – the Duomo, the church of Santa Maria Maggiore, the Colleoni Chapel and baptistery.
The elegant Città Bassa (lower town) grew up on the plain below and still has some buildings left that date back to the 15th century. One of Bergamo’s most important tourist attractions, located outside the town wall on Via della Nuca, is the town’s 200-year-old art gallery, the Accademia Carrara.
It is only a short tmotorhome drive to Lecco at the foot of Lake Como and to Sarnico at the foot of Lake Iseo. By changing at Brescia you can quickly reach resorts on Lake Garda from Bergamo.

The city proper has a population of about 1.3 million, while its urban area is the 5th largest in the EU with an estimated population of about 5,264,000. Milan is famous for its wealth of historical and modern sights – the Duomo, one of the biggest and grandest Gothic cathedrals in the world, La Scala, one of the best established opera houses in the globe, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, an ancient and glamorous arcaded shopping gallery, the Brera art gallery, with some of the finest artistic works in Europe, the Pirelli tower, a majestic example of 1960s modernist Italian architecture, the San Siro, a huge and famed stadium, or the Castello Sforzesco, a grand medieval castle and the UNESCO’s World Heritage Site Santa Maria alle Grazie Basilica, containing one of the world’s most famous paintings: Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper.
